Bike Sunset Trail

Peninsula State Park by bike is an incredible way to explore the park.

But what if you’re a less experienced cyclist?

The Sunset Trail is perfect for beginners, offering 5.1 miles of graveled paths with stunning views that provide a wonderful tour through the State Park.

The Sunset Trail features a mix of hills and flat terrain and takes you past notable landmarks like the boat launch, Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, and Sven's Bluff. It leads all the way to Fish Creek and passes by the Nature Center.

Remember that the Sunset Bike Trail is gravel and not designed for high-speed travel. It can become soft when wet and may erode during heavy rains.

If you forgot to bring your bike, or want to try cycling for the first time, you can rent bikes for the whole family at Nicolet Beach Rentals. The rental booth is a stone’s throw from the trail and has adult bikes, step-through and step-over, youth bikes, buggies, and ride-a-longs.

Biking tips:

  • Stick to the trails to prevent erosion and avoid disturbing wildlife.

  • Yield to hikers or cyclists heading uphill and be prepared to dismount if the trail narrows.

  • Announce your presence with a greeting or bell when passing slower traffic.

  • Ride single file to allow cars to pass safely.

Safety is key:

  • Always wear a helmet and stay in control of your bike.

  • Be aware of those around you and avoid pushing the group's limits.

  • On the road, ride with traffic flow and stay out of drivers’ blind spots.

Enjoy your ride and the beautiful scenery of Peninsula State Park!
